Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU)
The CDU is the interface that exchanges heat between the closed technology loop — the secondary loop serving the cold plates — and the facility water supply, the primary loop. It also regulates flow, temperature and pressure to the racks.
Unit capacity has become a sizing constraint as rack power rises: where one CDU once served many racks, high-density deployments approach one unit per rack.
LG Electronics disclosed a CDU line rated 650 kW to 1.4 MW in October 2025, and reported obtaining NVIDIA CDU quality certification in 2026.
For Korean projects the practical check is to place rack power and CDU capacity in the same table before selecting a cooling vendor.
